SensorMine Nexus Field

Privacy Notice

‍

This notice explains what the SensorMine Nexus Field mobile app (for iPhone and Android) collects, why, and what happens to it. The app is published by Altra Technologies Pty Ltd (ACN 676 691 035) ("Altra", "we", "us"). It adds to, and does not replace, Altra's general Privacy Policy.

Who the app is for

The app is a business tool for field technicians who install and maintain SensorMine NEXUS sensors for organisations that use the SensorMine platform. You can only sign in with an account your organisation has set up for you; you cannot create an account in the app. The app is not directed at children.

WHAT THE APP COLLECTS, AND WHY

Information
When
Why
Your name and email address
When you sign in with your organisation's Microsoft account
To identify you, keep you signed in, and show your organisation's data
Precise location of your phone
Only when you record or update where a sensor is installed, and only while the app is open
To record the sensor's installed position so it appears on the map and in its record. The app never tracks your location in the background
Photos
Only when you take or choose a photo of an installation
To attach site photos to the sensor's installation record
Questions you type into the in-app assistant
Only when you use the assistant
To answer questions about your organisation's sensors and data
App diagnostic logs: app events and errors, app version, phone model and operating system version
While the app is in use
To find and fix faults, and to support technicians during installations
Sensor information read over NFC or Bluetooth
When you tap or connect to a NEXUS sensor
To identify, configure and provision the sensor

The app uses your phone's camera only to take installation photos, NFC and Bluetooth only to communicate with NEXUS sensors, and location only as described above. On some older Android versions, the operating system requires location permission before an app can scan for Bluetooth devices. The app does not use that permission to record where you are.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your information.
  • We do not use it for advertising, and the app contains no advertising or advertising identifiers.
  • We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Where it goes and who can see it

Information collected by the app is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS) to the SensorMine platform. It is stored in Microsoft Azure data centres in Australia and is visible to authorised users of your organisation and to Altra staff who support the platform.

We use service providers who process information on our behalf, under contract, and only to provide the service:

  • Microsoft (Azure hosting, and Microsoft Entra sign-in).
  • Microsoft Azure AI services, which process questions sent to the in-app assistant. These questions may be processed outside Australia, including in the United States.
  • Map providers. Maps in the app are displayed by Google Maps (Android) or Apple Maps (iPhone), which receive the map area being displayed under their own privacy policies.

How long we keep it

Installation records, including locations and photos, are kept for as long as your organisation uses SensorMine, or until your organisation deletes them. Diagnostic logs are kept only as long as they are needed for support and fault finding. Your sign-in details are removed from your phone when you sign out, and everything the app stores on your phone is removed when you uninstall it.

Your choices and rights

  • You can refuse or withdraw location, camera, photo, NFC and Bluetooth permissions in your phone's settings. The features that need them will stop working; the rest of the app keeps working.
  • To access, correct or delete your personal information, contact your organisation's SensorMine administrator, or contact us using the details below. Your account is managed by your organisation, and we will work with them on your request.

We will update this notice when the app changes what it collects. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
